 The Place
This restaurant locates in KL Life Centre opposite Fraser Place were we stayed for a week. Naturally, we wandered inside once or twice looking for food at time when we were to tired to walk.

Its large entrance locates right behind the entrance of KL Life Centre, and so it isn't hard to miss. But its name and its beckoning pig guarding the door made me recoil from going in.

When i mentioned this to Fraser Place's staff, they told us that this place cooks up some mean spare ribs, and who could argue with the locals?

It's interesting that while travelling in KL, i found out that some of the most famous local dishes and restaurants are in fact selling pork, which is non halal. Look at the bottom left corner of their sign above the door in the above photo, and it says "(tidak  halal)", meaning non-halal in Malay. Duh!

Before even given a menu, given the 2 pigs at the doors, and its shelves stuffed full of pig figurines, you get a distinct feeling that this restaurant specializes in pork. Duh!

In one afternoon i was there (just passing through) during their break, i saw some pep-talk being whipped up to energize their staff. I had a feeling that you won't find inattentive waitstaff here.

 The Food
For the 3 of us, we ordered 3 dishes to get a sample of their tastes.

Signature BBQ Pork Rib: 8.5 / 10.
This is the signature dish that they've earned their name. The smokey flesh is quite juicy, and came right off the ribs. In short, it smokes!

I would give them a 9 / 10 if their BBQ sauce is a little less sweet. It's not overwhelmingly sweet, but i don't have sweet tooth. For those who do, you probably give it a higher score.

Chicken Nasi Goreng: 7.5 / 10.
Their fried rice isn't bad, but no match for their spare ribs. The prawn crackers did make a lot of deliciously crunchy noise. Not too oily.

Salad Topped with BBQ Pork:  7 / 10.
Seeing Chinese BBQ pork sitting on top of salad greens is a 1st for me. The skins were a little bit of a let down. The dressing (tastes like Assam or tamarind sauce) is also an interesting surprise.

Overall Score: 8 / 10. Sign, Naughty Nuri's Restaurant, Life Centre, KL, Malaysia
The moral of the story is, don't judge a restaurant by their welcoming pigs.

Just like the sign says, this pork-centric restaurant started in 1995 in Bali, Indonesia and it's quite well known there. Their franchise have been spreading northwards to KL and Singapore.

Yes, there's a Naughty Nuri's in Singapore, and i discovered it while travelling in KL. Life's like that. Although this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise because the Naughty Nuri's in Capitol Piazza mall in Singapore had only opened a few months before i visited this KL franchise outlet. Capitol Piazza mall itself has been opened for barely a year, and when i visited the Spizza outlet in the mall, less than half the stores were opened.

I certainly would like to check out the Naughty Nuri's spare ribs when i return to Singapore.
