Legendary Hong Kong Restaurant in Jurong Point - 2nd Visit

After our 1st visit to the Legendary Hong Kong restaurant, Ada had been looking forward to this 2nd visit to sample more of their dishes in a large menu (typically in a HK style 茶餐廳). I won't write again the dishes that I had already reviewed in my previous visit.

Pan-fried Crispy Noodles Topped with Shredded Pork and Chives (韭黃肉絲炒麵): 6.5 / 10.
The crispy noodles lived up to its name. This kind of pan-fried crispy noodles are common in HK / Cantonese restaurants, but not at all in other Chinese (Minnanese such as Hokkien, Teochew, or Hainanese) cuisines that are popular in Singapore.

Did the chef forget to add salt? The insipid gravy really let down the whole dish. This is a chef's suggestion.

Pan-fried Crispy Noodled Topped with Shredded Pork and Chive 韭黃肉絲炒麵

Sauteed Turnip Cake with XO Sauce (XO 酱炒萝卜糕):  5.5 / 10.
Another chef's suggestion, and another disappointment. The XO sauce is ok, but like the Rice Noodle Rolls in XO Sauce, the turnip cake is bit too soft (no body).

Boiled Coke with Lemon and Ginger (柠檬可乐煮姜): 6.5 / 10.
This is a true-blue HK invention of fusion drink by combining Chinese and Western ingredient. I find it too lemony while Ada finds it too gingery. It's just so happened I'm not into lemon while Ada doesn't care for ginger. So our judgement of this drink is quite subjective. If you have never tried it before, you should. It's always nice to find out what it's like when the East meets West in your mouth. Kinda sweet, sour and slightly bitter experience: life summarises in a drink. What more can one asks for?

Pan-fried Beancurd Skin Roll Stuffed with Shrimp (鲜虾腐皮卷): 8.5 / 10.
Having finished and disappointed with the 3 Chef's suggestions above, we decided to order something we like that's not suggested by chefs, but suggested by our guts, and it paid off deliciously. Nice job, Ada!

The beancurd skins are explosively crunchy, and the prawns are bouncy. Both are trying to get your attention among busy chewing. It's like a party in your mouth: full of heat and noise (热闹). C-r-u-n-c-h...C-r-u-n-c-h...What did you say? Sorry, can't hear ya! You're in my stomach now!

Overall Score:  7 / 10. We have more disappointments with the dishes we ordered today compare with our last visit. The trouble with raised expectation. Our order made up of nearly all Chef's suggestion.

If we have one food for thought to put into a bag, and take away today: trust your guts instinct, not others' words of mouths.
